About us

This research group focuses the study of biology, ecology, epidemiology, genetic diversity, and evolution of RNA and DNA viruses of wild and domestic reservoir animals with known or unknown zoonotic potential. We do this through the identification and isolation of new viral strains, zoonotic risk assessment, genomic surveillance, development and improvement of diagnostic methodologies, identification of potential hosts, in addition to the genetic and phylodynamic characterization of different viral groups with emerging potential.
